After a $16.5 billion U.S. (13.8 billion euros) deal, Siemens Healthineers purchased Varian Medical Systems and became the biggest player in global radiation therapy market. Siemens announced that Varian will keep its corporate name and will be led by currently the company’s president and COO (chief operating officer) Chris Toth; he will report to CEO of Siemens Healthineers: Bernd Montag. However Varian’s current CEO, Dow Wilson will be retiring.
